How rebuildable-vehicle dealers can pilot listings on DNF
Plan a small manual DNF listing trial with clear staff responsibilities, seller approvals, photo rights, and a record of what actually happens.
General guidance. No specialist review is claimed unless named on this page.
A useful first trial starts with a few vehicles your dealership is ready to describe accurately and one person responsible for keeping their listings current. Choose stock with clear selling authority, current condition information, and photos you have permission to use. Then test whether your team can maintain that information through questions, offers, and collection.
Here, a pilot means a small trial your business runs through DNF's standard listing process. Set the scope around what your team can prepare and maintain. There is no need to treat every vehicle on the premises as ready to advertise.
Choose the stock and the accountable seller
Pick vehicles individually. A car on your lot may belong to the business, a customer, or another seller. Record who owns each one and who has authority to advertise and sell it. An unresolved ownership or permission question is a reason to leave that vehicle out of the trial.
Assign a listing lead who can reach the person responsible for the vehicle's condition records. Also decide who can approve the description and price, answer questions, accept an offer, and arrange collection. These are responsibilities within your business; they do not imply a shared team-account feature on DNF. Use the appropriate seller account without circulating login credentials.

Vehicles for sale (1)Complete the onboarding brief
Use this blank brief before entering the first car. Keep supporting records privately with the business.
| Decision | What to write down | Ready when |
|---|---|---|
| Trial scope | Included stock references, purpose, and internal review date | Each selected vehicle has a named responsible seller. |
| Selling authority | Owner and authority basis for each vehicle | The approving seller has confirmed authority for that row. |
| Listing lead | Person preparing and submitting the listings | They can obtain corrections and reach the seller. |
| Condition contact | Person supplying dated observations and records | They can distinguish present condition from earlier accounts. |
| Approval route | Who approves each car's text, asking-price choice, and photos | Approval is recorded against that exact vehicle and version. |
| Content rights | Who created each photo or document and what use is permitted | Every item selected for upload has permission for that use. |
| Responses and collection | Who handles questions, offer decisions, and pickup arrangements | Responsibilities and availability are agreed internally. |
| Learning record | Preparation effort, corrections, questions, and actual outcomes | The team agrees how to record events without assuming a sale. |
A general manager's approval of the trial does not replace approval of each listing. Keep a separate approval entry for every vehicle, including the seller's name, approval date, wording version, and photo set. Reopen approval when a material fact changes.
Prepare for the actual listing screens
DNF's selling instructions describe five screens. Prepare the following for each vehicle:
| Screen | What your team needs |
|---|---|
| VIN and identity | The 17-character VIN and the year, make, and model to confirm or correct after decoding. |
| Location, brand, and damage | Vehicle country and postal or ZIP code, registration or title jurisdiction, exact brand, primary damage type, and any useful description. |
| Condition | Separate starts, runs, and drives answers. Use Not known where that is the accurate answer. |
| Photos | At least four photos ready for use, including one identified as a damage close-up. |
| Review and publish | Asking price or open to offers, ownership or authority declaration, confirmed account email, and a final review of the listing. |
The four-photo minimum counts uploads that have finished processing. A selected file still uploading or processing does not meet that requirement. The selling instructions recommend broader coverage, and the damage-photo guide helps plan the views.
Documents, odometer readings, keys, and additional condition details can be added through the additional-details flow. Keep records ready even when a field is optional. A DNF Score is based on seller answers; it does not establish the vehicle's condition or value.
Approve content rights alongside the facts
Confirm permission to use each image and record for its intended purpose. Having a workshop copy of a customer's report does not establish permission to reproduce it. Use original photos or obtain the required permission; do not copy another advertisement's images or a full commercial history report into your listing pack.
Review the selected photos for people, addresses, paperwork, and other private information. DNF's selling instructions say uploaded documents stay private, but that does not replace permission to upload them. A private supporting document and a public listing photograph need separate handling.
Keep the trial under active ownership
Submission can lead to moderation, including a seller's first listing. Record whether each car has not been submitted, is awaiting review, or has actually been published. Reconcile availability with the business's own stock records manually, and update the listing when circumstances change.
When an offer is accepted, DNF marks the listing sale pending. Contact details are released once any required platform fees on both sides are paid. The sale-arrangement instructions leave viewing, paperwork, payment, and pickup to buyer and seller. Contact release does not establish payment of the vehicle price or a completed sale.
At your internal review, compare preparation effort, unanswered questions, corrections, and independently confirmed outcomes. Keep offers, accepted introductions, and completed sales as separate entries. Expand only when your team can sustain accurate listings and responses. Browse the vehicle inventory to understand its organization, then start an individual listing for stock whose approval record is complete.
Questions and answers
Does approval of the dealer trial cover every vehicle listing?
No. Record approval for each vehicle, including the seller's name, approval date, wording version, and photo set. Reopen approval when a material fact changes, and leave vehicles with unresolved selling authority out of the trial.
What counts toward the four-photo minimum?
Only uploads that have finished processing count. Prepare at least four photos, identify one as a damage close-up, and check that processing is complete before relying on them to meet the minimum.
What should the dealership record before expanding the trial?
Compare preparation effort, unanswered questions, corrections, and independently confirmed outcomes. Record offers, accepted introductions, and completed sales separately, and expand only when the team can maintain accurate listings and responses.
