Sell your damaged or written-off car as it is.
Rebuilders, body shops and parts buyers make offers on cars like yours.
No VIN handy?
It’s on your registration and your insurance card, and at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side.
What happens next
Enter the VIN and say what happened
The VIN fills in the year, make and model. Then add where the car is, the status brand on its registration and what’s damaged.
Add photos
At least 4 photos from your phone, one of them a close-up of the damage.
Offers come to you by email
Buyers offer above or below your asking price. Accept one, counter with a price of your own, or decline.
What it costs
Listing is free. If you accept an offer, you pay a flat success fee, shown in full before you accept and refunded in full if the sale falls through.
When you accept, you pay a success fee and the buyer pays an introduction fee. Once both fees are paid, you get each other’s contact details and sort out payment and pickup yourselves. DNF never handles the money for the vehicle.
| Accepted price | Success fee |
|---|---|
| Under $500 | $15 before tax |
| $500 to $2,999.99 | $39 before tax |
| $3,000 to $7,499.99 | $69 before tax |
| $7,500 to $29,999.99 | $89 before tax |
| $30,000 or more | $149 before tax |
Who buys
Rebuilders and body shops looking for their next repair, parts recyclers, exporters, and people who’d rather fix one up themselves.
What sells
Hail damage, collisions, cars that won’t start or don’t run, and vehicles branded Salvage or Rebuilt.
Questions sellers ask
Do I have to fix it first?
No. Rebuilders, small shops and enthusiasts buy written-off vehicles to repair, and others want them for parts.
I still owe money on it.
If someone is owed money on a vehicle, they can register a lien against it, and the lien can stay with the vehicle after it’s sold. Before you pay, get the full VIN and search it in the personal property registry where the seller lives and where the vehicle is registered.
My insurer hasn’t paid out yet, or I might keep the car.
Start with our guide to keeping your car after a write-off. It explains the salvage deduction and what changes once the car is yours.
How do I get paid?
When you accept, you pay a success fee and the buyer pays an introduction fee. Once both fees are paid, you get each other’s contact details and sort out payment and pickup yourselves. DNF never handles the money for the vehicle.
Who handles pickup?
The buyer arranges it with you once you’ve accepted their offer. DNF doesn’t arrange transport.
Is my phone number public?
No. Until you accept, buyers reach you through messages on the site and can’t see your phone number or email address.
